Trust in American institutions is essential to the functioning of U.S. democracy. Yet today, many feel that trust is declining. So what impact does this have on American society?
I pitched, produced, captured, and art directed Pew's first ever animated series. Each short video brings together the Center’s key findings about trust in the news media, elections, police, scientists and the economy.
The U.S. Census doesn't collect religious data on Americans. And so Pew's Religious Landscape study (RLS) was created to fill that gap. It's seen as the census for religion in America. For the recent iteration (2023-2024), I art directed and commissioned an illustrator, Shawna X, and a motion design agency, Duke & Duck, to create a video series that visualizes and explains how Americans experience faith and spirituality.
Of the 24 million Asians living in the United States, about 2.3 million live in poverty—that's 1 in 10 Asians. Often times, Asian Americans are labeled "model minorities" but the reality is that they, too, struggle with financial hardships in this country. This short film shares those challenges and counters stereotypes.
I was the co-director of this project as well as creative director. I introduced and lead narrative brainstorms for our first short film, which received a 2025 "Best Short Documentary" Honorable Mention by Gold House. This documentary, titled "1 in 10," published online in March 2024 and was shown in a private theater screening—a first for us—in Los Angeles, in partnership with Gold House.
